Round 18 Results and Finals Preview

The 2015 regular season is in the books. Check the final round results and see which teams are placed to fight on in the finals!

Juniors U10:
Monash had a great game to end the season, beating finals contenders Kew 3-2 at Monash.

Juniors U14:
A potential finals preview ended in a tense one on Friday night, with Monash (fourth place) drawing with Frankson (third place) 2-2 in the last regular season game.
The team play top-ranked Mentone this Friday night in the semi-final. It looks to be a tough one, with Mentone finishing the season undefeated.

Womens Vic League 1:
Up against Brunswick, who were fighting to get into the top four, Monash was ready for a strong game. An outstanding game by goal keeper Therese McArthur saw many outstanding saves. Unfortunately her performance wasn’t enough, and Monash went down 0-5. The girls are all hoping for a smoother running season next year.

Womens Vic League 1 Reserves:
The 2s faced Brunswick this week, a team just one position higher on the ladder. Unfortunately Monash couldnโ€™t convert their team work and determination into enough goals to knock the opposition off. The final score was 5-1 with Hillary Davies putting one in for Monash.

Mens Vic League 2:
A disappointing end to an up-and-down season for the Mens 1s, as they came away from St Bedes without the points needed to secure fourth position on the ladder. The boys went down 0-1 just before the half time whistle and couldn’t make it back, losing 1-2.

Mens Vic League 2 Reserves:
Sitting securely in third position, the Mens 2s played a dead rubber against St Bedes but were looking for a good win to start their run. The boys generated plenty of circle penetrations but managed to convert just two of them, leaving St Bedes to snatch a draw after they scored from costly defensive errors.
The boys play Knox their preliminary-final this Saturday in what should be a great match. The teams have split the points this season, with Knox winning their round 13 matchup although Monash were missing some key players. Both teams are in great form, unbeaten for several rounds.

Womens Pennant D:
THE GIRLS HAVE MADE IT TO THE FINALS! Sitting in fifth position but just one point behind the two teams in front, Monash had to win this weekend to have a chance at a finals berth. The girls came out firing on with determination to go all the way. Up against a consistent Footscray, Monash put in four second half goals, winning the game 4-2 and going into the four on goal difference.
The girls play ECHO this weekend, looking to improve on their results earlier in the season. The girls have a draw and a loss against ECHO this year, losing a close one 3-2 in round 15.

Womens Metro B South:
The Monash 4โ€™s had a close game to finish the season. Katherine Vuong put one goal on the board, the final scoring going Bayside Cougars way, 2-1.

Mens Pennant B:
The guys played against Doncaster away, going down 0-8 in the final round.

Mens Metro A ENE:
The boys had a great game against a Doncaster side sitting mid-table, losing a close one 0-1.

Womens Masters A:
Monash played Hawthorn away, losing 0-1.

Womens Masters B:
Monash play Camberwell this week to determine whether they’ll play finals! Monash and Mentone Navy are equal in fourth/fifth on both points and goal difference, so the final round will determine who goes through.
UPDATE: A very tough game Wednesday night against first-placed Camberwell. Scores were level at half time but Monash couldn’t hold off their opposition, going down 1-2 and leaving them in fifth spot on the ladder.

Mens Masters 35BNW:
Monash lost to Brunswick 0-4

Mens Masters 35BSE:
Monash finished just outside the final four, drawing 2-2 with Croydon in their final game.
