Monash Annual General Meeting – Monday 12th of December

Hi Club Members,

As per clause 12.1 of the Monash Hockey Club Constitution I hereby give the required minimum 21 days notice of the 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

2016 AGM
Date : – Monday 12th of December 2016
Time : – 7pm (please arrive by 6:45pm to sign-in)
Venue : – Monash University Hockey Clubrooms

The meeting will include the presentation of club reports, club financials, projected budget and elections. It is essential that you attend as we require a minimum number of attendees to be able to proceed with the meeting. If you’re unable to attend in person, please complete the linked AGM Proxy Form and return it as per the instructions.

The Monash University Hockey Club has been conducting a review of its Constitution in light of the introduction of the Association Incorporation Reform Act 2012. As a result of this review it was discovered that changes to the Constitution voted on by members at general meetings since 1999 were not submitted to the Registrar for approval and therefore did not take effect. As such, the Club is bound by the Constitution as registered with Consumer Affairs, which is dated 7 April 1999 (the Current Constitution).

A new draft Constitution based on the model rules developed under the Association Incorporation Reform Act 2012 has being drafted and will be put to the members for their consideration in 2017. In addition, the Committee has been considering a new structure for the Committee, but this will not take effect until the draft constitution has been considered by the members.

Until that time, we are bound by the Current Constitution. As such, we call for nominations for the following positions:
a) Executive President;
b) Treasurer
c) Secretary
d) Social Chairperson
e) Teams Administrator (equivalent to the equipment manager)
f) Men’s Coaching Chairperson
g) Women’s Selection Chairperson
h) Building Manager (equivalent to the canteen manager); and
i) Editor of the Association’s Official Publication (equivalent to our comms manager).

The Committee is also seeking volunteers for the following roles that are not committee positions but are crucial to the successful running of our club:
a) Juniors VP
b) Mens VP
c) Womens VP
d) Masters VP
e) Fundraising Manager
f) Umpiring Coordinator
g) Association Representative
h) Sponsorship Manager

Nominations can be submitted to the club secretary Peter Johnson –
Nominations will also be accepted on the morning of the AGM if no nominations have been received for a specific position.
