New in 2016, each week the spotlight will be put on a particular Monash team that best displayed the attributes we consider key in our farmers, namely the smashing of opposition.
This week we feature our Mens Vic League 2 side, who defeated CV Blazers 5-1 on Saturday.
Despite some sore legs and cramping from the early car trip to Bendigo, the boys put together arguably their best team performance for a while.
Missing some key players, the boys got off to a slow start and headed into the half time break at 1-1. After the usual half time spray, they got their act together and quickly proved their dominance with a 4-0 second half. The energiser bunny James Morrow and the evergreen Matty Absolom led the way with two and one goals respectively, while import Brett Churchill and home grown Adam Williams joined in with one apiece.
A special note to Harrison Gee, who debuted for the 1s this season.
Player spotlight:
Although the original birth certificates were lost centuries ago, those who suggest Paul Don was born in the net might not be too far from the truth. (Reasonably) healthy and in red hot form, Donny put in another blinder in round 2 and has now saved 3 penalty strokes in 2 games. โBout time the fullbacks bought him a drink I reckon.
