With less than a month remaining in the 2017 season, Monash have eight teams vying for a chance at finals. Let’s find out who is on track for that September flag.
Womens 1s
2nd – 12 wins/1 loss/2 draws
The womens 1s havenโt lost since round 5 when they faced top of the table Werribee and now sit second on goal difference. The Monash vs Werribee matchup looks to be a great one. The girls are 12 points clear of third but face MHSOB and PEGS who are 4th and 3rd on the ladder respectively, making a finals preview in the coming weeks a possibility.
Mens 1s
2nd – 8/2/3
The boys had been on a hot streak until last round when they suffered their first defeat since round 1 of the 2017 season. They sit comfortably in second spot and have some lower ranked sides coming up to try and build some form coming into finals.
Womens 2s
2nd – 11/2/2
The reserves are in a similar spot to the 1s, sitting comfortably in 2nd place. They will face the 3rd and 4th ranked sides in the final two weeks which should give the league a good idea of how the teams will go come finals time.
Mens 2s
4th – 8/4/1
The Mens 2s face a crucial game this weekend against Knox who sit in 5th position. A win there will help secure their spot inside the 4 as they then face two lower ranked sides to cement themselves in the final four.
Womens 4s
3rd – 8/4/1
Budding supercoach Jeremy Goode and his team havenโt lost a game since round 8 and now sit just one win inside the 4. A bye this weekend will change things up, but games against the 5th and 6th ranked teams in the final two rounds mean their fate is in their own hands.
Mens 4s
1st – 11/1/3
The mens fours have claimed top spot with five wins on the trot. They are just two points clear of second place, and face some mid-table teams to cement their first place position.
Mens Masters 35BE
1st – 12/0/1
The masters remain undefeated this season and are currently sitting two games clear of second spot. They will face Hawthorn and MCC in the coming weeks and are a red hot chance at a flag.
U16
4th – 7/5/0
The race for finals is a tight one for the juniors with 3rd, 4th, and 5th position all tied on points. With just two games to go the kids will face some teams lower on the ladder and will need to get the points to tie up a finals position.
