Impressive wins from the Womens Masters A and B sides were some of the bright spots in a hot and cold round, which some club members tried a little too hard to forget.
Womens Masters A grade
Monash def Swinburne-MUD 3-1
Overall a sensational – and amusing – game with some great passing, lots of attacking plays and solid defending in the circle. Both teams were fairly evenly matched, particularly in the mid-field but we finished off better in the circle. Brooke slotted 2 magnificent flicks of penalty corners and Alice finished off a great passage of play by deflecting a ball in behind the goalie.ย Fabulous to watch…if you didn’t know better, you would’ve thought we’d trained to do all that! Their goal came off a short corner…we had 2 breaks and ended up with only three of us defending the corner…oops…at least we could laugh about it.

Monash def St Kilda Powerhouse 4-0
Despite having just 10 players on the field we had a strong game and finished well on top. Wendy, Burnsie, Kim and Di defended well, bringing the ball into the forward line many times to ensure we were constantly in a good attacking position. Elyce, Linda and Jo kept the pressure on up front on the forward line. This combined with some great passing between to Barbara and Susanna was the spearhead of the attack. Our goalie Shelly saw some brief action to save a couple attempts made in our D, just to keep her warm! Overall we played high and attacking throughout the game with a few shots on goal. Great team play throughout the game..
