Early Bird rates end March 31

Kind reminder that Early Bird rates for membership fees will end on March 31st.

From April 1 to April 14 the standard fee applies and after April 14 there is a late fee. What we’re saying is, get in now and save unnecessarily spending money! Early Bird prices save you a solid $25, that’s a 10-week supply of two-minute noodles, a new grip for your stick, 10 sushi rolls, 4 sessions at Waverley Cinema, your coffee funds for the week, a flight to Hobart (on a good day), basically WHATEVER YOUR HEART DESIRES. Good deal huh?

It also does us a real solid by confirming the numbers we have for the season. So please get clicking, here’s the link: https://www.monashhockey.org.au/registration/

Wet BBQ Success

Nothing stops a hockey match. Despite heavy rain, the women’s intraclub match went ahead this morning, halting momentarily for lightening and thunder. The men’s teams played on through more rain with a drenched pitch. So. Many. Over-heads.

The weather slightly dampened the Welcome (Back) BBQ but the snags still sold and the people still socialised so we’re calling that a success! Thanks to Greater Dandenong Warriors for the competition!

Hope everyone has an enjoyable long weekend next weekend, rest up for the season kick-off in 3 weeks – BRING IT ON

Welcome (Back) BBQ

Time to get well-acquainted with each other in a non-sweaty, non-fitnessy, non-serious setting. We’re having a Welcome Back/Welcome to the club BBQ at the club on the 24th of March at 12:30pm.

The barbecue will be fired up and drinks will be available from the canteen! Some hockey-related mini games are planned (because you can never really get enough hockey) so bring your stick down to join the shenanigans. Partners, puppies and pals all welcome to tag along!

The men’s 1s and 2s have practice matches from 12:30pm so get your Farmer’s voice-box working. Bring it on Dandenong Hockey Club! Keen to see you there!

You can click ‘attending’ on our Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/165203300866865/

Practice rounds all ’round

We had 5 teams compete in practice matches this weekend! Mornington Peninsula Hockey Club hosted us through the roller coaster weather with the Men’s 1s and 2s playing in 32 degree heat and the Women’s 3s playing in rain the next morning!

Well-fought matches ended with the following score-boards:

Men’s 2s won 3-0

Men’s 1s won 3-0

Women’s 3s lost 0-1

Women’s 2s drew 0-0

Women’s 1s won 1-0

Mornington took the opportunity to hold a charity round, with speakers raising awareness of the prevalence of family violence, and funds going to The Good Shepard organisation. The organisation supports people who are experiencing, or recovering from, family violence in the local Mornington Peninsula area. This is an incredible relevant cause, with 1 in 4 women in Australia experiencing at least one form of family violence in their lives. For more information, or to donate, please follow this link.

On a lighter note, T minus 4 weeks until Round 1!
